Inspiration
Inspired by an opportunity to make the world a better place and help fight animal trafficking and pouching, four motivated students from Lithuania combined their power to unleash a new idea and build an exciting open-source, nonprofit project during this hackathon. In our country, animal trafficking is a real problem that needs to be solved. Currently, there are no easy solutions for traffickers to be stopped, for poachers to be caught, and building these solutions often cost a lot of money.
What it does
We're introducing you to a "Too human" project, which aims to save elephants, giraffes, tigers, rhinos, lions, and other animals in danger in a new, modern way. Currently, there is no such crowdfunding platform where anyone who has an idea of saving animals could receive funding. Angel investors often want equity and make money; existing crowdfunding platforms lack functionality and are not tailored to nonprofit projects. We're a platform where anyone who has an idea of saving animals can come and request funding. People and organizations donate to projects they believe in.
How WE built it
We are building this platform with a long-term future vision. Due to legal circumstances and law requirements, we used a Stripe Connect tool, enabling users to create transit bank accounts, deal with KYC, AML checks under one EMI license without a headache. We built a platform based on a well-known Laravel framework with authentication, projects management, payments, and a couple of other ready-to-go features at the cost of two sleepless nights, an uncountable amount of coffee, and a few pizzas.
Challenges WE ran into
During this weekend, we had challenges such as Github's smooth integration, code compilation errors, payment provider integration, and laws that involve our business plan. Luckily, we have experience in the fintech industry, also recurrently participating in various hackathons, so we have a know-how how to deal with these challenges. The biggest challenges for us were self-closing eyes and easily avoidable mistakes made because of tiredness😄
Accomplishments that We're proud of
So far we created demo software that already has donate and create project/donation functions in it, the demo can work as the proper software, we are very excited about where it’s going.
What WE learned
That less is more and the software, the whole, does not have to be complicated. Simplicity is key.
What's next for Priceless (Too human)
We plan to complete our MVP and launch our project live until 2021 Q1, scale internationally with the help of experienced mentors and advisors, and, most importantly - test the market because it has so many verticals from helping animals, forests, and other problems indeed.
