Returning home from robarts, sleep-deprived, mad at life, everyone needs an outlet. We wanted to make something everybody could use to take their stress out or reflect on their day to later come back to. We think every day counts but when everything is already hard to keep up with, we forget what we even had for dinner for the day prior. TonusAI becomes your road down the memory lane. TonusAI lets you record your thoughts, transcribes what you say in real time, and analyzes your emotions through both your words and your tone. It shows your mood inside a live liquid orb, tracks your emotional patterns, gives you daily insights, and stores everything so you can look back whenever you want. We combined voice recording, speech-to-text, and an emotion model that checks both text and audio every few seconds. The front end is a simple interface built around the orb, and the rest of the features, like the calendar and plant. Getting the orb to react naturally to someone’s voice was harder than we expected. We also struggled with keeping the calendar colors stable, fixing the plant animation, and making the real-time updates smooth without lag. We learned how tough real-time processing is, how important UI consistency is, and how small design details (like color transitions or plant growth) can completely change the user experience. Next, we want to improve accuracy, add more emotion types, build better weekly summaries, make the garden grow even more naturally, add streak rewards, and refine the daily insights so the app becomes a real companion over time.
