TomoBuddy

Inspiration

Our team wanted more motivation to do our schoolwork, so we decided to build something that would help us stay focused and be more efficient.

What it does

TomoBuddy allows you to create a personalized to do list, earning money as you check off tasks. Be careful of the hunger bar, and purchase food to keep your buddy full and happy.

How we built it

We used python for the backend and PyQt6 for the GUI.

Challenges we ran into

At first, we used Tkinter as our GUI, but it was not very compatible for MacOS. In the middle of our project, we switched to PyQt6, which was difficult because none of us had worked with it before.

What we learned

We learned how to use PyQt6, and also got more comfortable with sending signals between files.

What's next for TomoBuddy

In the future, TomoBuddy could have even more features, such as mini games. Additionally, it could be connected to Canvas or another LLM so you earn even more money if you get good grades on your assignments, tailoring it for students.
