Inspiration

TOME (Taste of the Middle East) was inspired by the need to modernize event and vendor management for cultural festivals. Traditional booking processes were manual and inefficient, so this platform was designed to streamline vendor onboarding, booth reservations, and event coordination through a centralized digital system.

What it does

TOME is a full-stack event booking and vendor management platform that allows vendors to:

  • Browse and register for multiple events
  • View and filter available booths
  • Reserve booths in real-time
  • Manage vendor profiles and bookings
  • Complete secure payments through Stripe
  • Track pricing breakdowns including fees and taxes

The platform supports both mobile and web applications, providing a seamless experience for vendors and event organizers.

How I built it

The system was built using a multi-platform architecture:

  • iOS mobile app developed with Swift and SwiftUI
  • Web application built with Angular and TypeScript
  • Backend REST API handling business logic and data processing
  • Stripe API integration for secure payment handling
  • JWT-based authentication and role-based access control

I designed the system to support dynamic event availability, real-time booth tracking, and scalable vendor management.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring consistency between the mobile and web platforms while maintaining a unified backend system. Handling real-time booth availability and preventing double bookings required careful backend logic and validation.

Integrating secure payment processing with Stripe while maintaining a smooth user experience was also a key challenge.
