TokenWatcher Impact
Inspiration
As AI becomes part of education, healthcare, nonprofits, and public services, organizations need more than just powerful models—they need visibility into how those models are being used. Many teams can see their AI bills but have little understanding of usage patterns, reliability, operational costs, or system behavior.
TokenWatcher Impact extends our existing AI observability platform with a focus on responsible AI adoption for social-good organizations. The goal is to help mission-driven teams monitor AI usage, understand operational costs, improve transparency, and make better decisions through actionable analytics.
What it does
TokenWatcher Impact is an AI observability and analytics platform that collects telemetry from AI-powered applications and transforms it into meaningful insights.
The platform provides:
- Real-time AI request monitoring
- Token and cost analytics
- Model and endpoint performance dashboards
- Latency and error monitoring
- Forecasting and usage trends
- AI-powered recommendations
- Workspace-based analytics
- Telegram integration for notifications and reports
For organizations working in education, nonprofits, and public services, these insights help improve operational efficiency while promoting responsible and transparent AI adoption.
How we built it
The platform consists of several components:
- A TypeScript SDK that captures AI request telemetry
- A Node.js + Express backend that authenticates and stores telemetry
- PostgreSQL for persistent storage
- A React dashboard built with Vite and Tailwind CSS
- Server-Sent Events (SSE) for real-time updates
- OpenClaw and Telegram integration for conversational access
- AI-powered analytics and forecasting
Challenges we ran into
Building a production-ready telemetry platform involved several engineering challenges, including reliable event batching, workspace isolation, real-time analytics, secure authentication, scalable dashboard updates, and integrating multiple AI providers while maintaining a consistent telemetry pipeline.
Another challenge was designing an architecture that could be extended to support organizations with different operational requirements while remaining lightweight and developer-friendly.

What we learned
Throughout development we gained experience designing scalable backend systems, building developer tooling, implementing real-time analytics, and creating production-ready AI infrastructure with a strong emphasis on observability and maintainability.
What's next for TokenWatcher Impact
Our roadmap includes expanding responsible AI capabilities by adding governance dashboards, transparency reports, compliance tooling, fairness monitoring, richer forecasting, and additional integrations to help organizations deploy AI systems more responsibly.
Pre-existing Project Disclosure
TokenWatcher is an existing open-source project. During the Open Atlas submission period, we are extending it with additional functionality aligned with the AI for Social Good theme. The submission focuses on these new improvements while building on the existing observability platform, in accordance with the hackathon rules.
