Summary

ToGo is a web app designed to help you plan out a trip with directions, weather, and Uber information in addition to a customized Spotify playlist based on your destination.

It is built on the Google Maps, Spotify, Dark Sky, and Uber web APIs, and written primarily in JavaScript.

Issues

We encountered in particular issues with the Spotify API, as there was no way to dial in locations and receive songs based on the location. As a result, we looked for other ways of coming up with these results and located a list of playlists created by Spotify for major cities. When a user enters a destination, we triangulate the nearest city and use the playlist created by Spotify for that city.

I did research on the four APIs we used in order to understand how to combine their data into one product – for example, we combined Uber's cost-per-minute data with the duration info from the Google Maps API in order to calculate an estimated cost for the trip. I also put together some of the front end elements, set up hosting, and designed the application's overall data flow and structure.

I got the necessary spotify location specific database (and learned more about injecting dynamic JavaScript and breakpoints into existing, minified, code).

I also helped manage the front end apis and integrated it into the full page map view
