Inspiration

Our family photo archive holds tens of thousands of photos. The questions we actually ask it are never "show me March 2019". They are about two people: "How much time did the kids spend with Grandpa?", "Make something for our anniversary". Photo apps organise by date, folder or one face at a time, and the family photographer, the person holding the phone, is almost never in the picture, so their years look empty.

What it does

Together Story is an AI Skill for UGREEN AI NAS. You name two people and it:

  • finds every photo and video where both appear;
  • counts photos and distinct days together per year;
  • picks up to three highlight moments per year and describes them using the two real names, never "a man and a woman";
  • lists the years with no shared photos, honestly, instead of hiding them;
  • after your approval, creates an album with exactly those photos and saves the story as a Markdown file.

There is also an optional "my cameras" mode: photos you took on your own phone of the other person count as time together. That way the photographer parent finally shows up in their own story.

How we built it

It is a pure orchestration Skill in Markdown, written to the Uliya Skill Development Standard (kit 0.7.3). Seven ordered delegations go to photo-agent, document-agent, file-agent and knowledge-agent:

  • named people;
  • a both-people photo search with time range and camera model;
  • vision descriptions;
  • a document writing draft;
  • album creation;
  • saving the file.

Each step passes only the real upstream result. Both write steps wait for waiting_approval, and every delegation state is handled. Nothing leaves the NAS.

Challenges

  • Not inventing anything. Descriptions may only use the two names, and draft sentences that add a name, number or place not in the data are removed.
  • Ambiguity. When two people share a name, the Skill asks instead of guessing. A person who is not named yet stops the run with a clear hint.

What we learned

Counting days instead of files changes the story: 300 burst photos from one birthday are one day together, not 300.

What's next

As a finalist we would tune the vision prompt and check the both-people search on videos on a real iDX6011 Pro.
