The Problem

Uganda's 3.5 million smallholder farmers lose significant yields every season to plant diseases they can't diagnose, market prices they can't access in time, and planting decisions made without reliable weather data. The gap between modern agricultural intelligence and the farmer in the field costs livelihoods.

What We Built

Tobli Agriculture is a mobile-first AI platform that puts an agricultural expert in every farmer's pocket. It combines five core tools into a single, simple interface:

AI Plant Disease Diagnosis: Farmers snap a photo of a sick crop and receive an instant AI-powered diagnosis with treatment recommendations, reducing reliance on expensive agronomists.
Farmer's AI Chat: A conversational AI assistant that answers farming questions in plain language, accessible even to first-time smartphone users.
Live Market Prices: Real-time commodity prices across Ugandan markets, so farmers know when and where to sell for maximum return.
Planting Calendar: Crop-specific planting schedules tailored to Ugandan seasons and regions, helping farmers optimize timing for better harvests.
Weather Forecast: Localized weather data integrated into the platform so farmers can plan field activities with confidence.

Technology Stack

Built with Remix (React), deployed on Google Cloud Run, and powered by Google Gemini AI for disease diagnosis and conversational features.

Impact

Tobli Agriculture democratizes agricultural expertise. A farmer in rural Wakiso gets the same quality of crop disease insight and market intelligence as one with access to a government extension officer — instantly, for free, on their phone.

The Opportunity

Uganda's agricultural sector contributes 24% of GDP and employs over 70% of the workforce. Tobli Agriculture targets the last-mile gap between agricultural data and the people who need it most.
