Text Adventures & Youth

Text adventures played a major role in both of our childhoods. They introduced the connection between actions and consequences and served as a connection to the larger world surrounding us. We decided that based on how they influenced us when we were younger, we could use them to change peoples' understanding of climate change, and the importance of their choices on the world.

What it does

The app goes through some simple daily choices people can make to help the environment, showing them that there are small things that every person can easily do to help.

How we built it

We built this program using python and a few text editors to make data/text files.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled a lot getting GitHub to work and converting files into more usable types. Specifically, from Python to the more accessible .exe file type. We created a slower printing function to better interact with the user but while changing the file type the efficiency decreased significantly, so we had to remove it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to create a working text adventure game for people to enjoy and also learn more about how their everyday choices can affect the environment and change the world.

What we learned

We learned more about what specific factors contribute to the climate change issue, and how daily actions can change the fate of the environment for the better, and that the change doesn't have to be a sudden large movement but a small change in daily life.
