Inspiration
We have seen a game which has recently become viral on social media–Wordle–and have seen famous board games–crossword and A-MATH. We are inspired by those games and we simplify crossword and A-MATH into games which are understandable and challenging at the same time (like how Wordle is.)
What it does
The website contains two games--an English game and a mathematics game--both of which were designed to have a normal level of difficulty so that it is understandable and challenging at the same time. The English game randomly shows ten English letters which a player has to use to form an English word. The player does not have to use all letters, but the player cannot use more repeats of any letters than in the randomized list. The mathematics game randomly shows a set of numbers that a player has to use with operations to make a number equal to another randomized number.
How we built it
We built the main website and the mathematics game with JavaScript, CSS, and html in Visual Code Studio, and built the English game with python in Replit.
Challenges we ran into
We have faced many problems, especially with website coding that make us have to change our plan, but we tried our best to solve them. The biggest problem is we cannot make the website run and check the answers of the English game. so we changed our plan to do it with python in Replit instead of JavaScript.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Considering our little background knowledge about making websites, we can learn languages, make websites, and solve problems well in such a very short period.
What we learned
We gained many things, especially making websites, and we also practiced many skills as well such as working in a team, presenting, and problem-solving.
What's next for To Learn is to Play: The Brain-Training Game Website
The score system and statistics function can be added in order to save players' high scores and save progress. More varieties of games can be added in order to make it more interesting.
