Inspiration

Every college student hits that point where focusing feels impossible. Assignments stack up, deadlines get way too close, and even starting something small feels like a lot. It’s easy to get distracted by your phone, people around you, or just your own thoughts drifting. It doesn’t mean you’re lazy—it just means you haven’t found a system that works for you yet. The right kind of structure can make things feel manageable again, one step at a time.

What it does

Welcome to To-Dood, your personal little study buddy. It’s here to keep you company while you work and help you stay on track with its cute, playful movements. When you’re focused, it’s right there with you—but if you start drifting off, To-Dood notices and throws in some silly, grumpy expressions to nudge you back into it. It’s like having a tiny, slightly dramatic partner who just wants to see you get things done.

How we built it

We brought To-Dood to life with expressive, crafty animations that mirror your study habits. It works alongside you—studying when you study, dozing off when you take a break, and getting a little grumpy when focus time gets interrupted.

On the technical side, we used Pygame to handle the animations, interface, and menus, tying everything together into a smooth experience. Behind the scenes, Python tracks your productivity time and updates To-Dood’s behavior in real time, so its reactions always match how you’re working.

Challenges we ran into

We are all first time hackathon goers, so it was indeed a struggle working under pressure and time constraints and last minute changes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are happy that despite it being our first hackathon, we managed to completely animate and ensure proper connectivity for To-Dood.

What we learned

We used modules that we werent familiar with like flask.

What's next for To-Dood

As creators, our next step is to give To-Dood a stronger sense of progress and growth. We want users to be able to track their study sessions over time, build streaks, and see a clear picture of their consistency. When progress is visible, it becomes much easier to stay motivated and keep coming back.

We’re also looking to deepen the interaction between the user and To-Dood. Our goal is for To-Dood to evolve alongside the user—becoming happier with consistent focus, unlocking new expressions, and even changing its appearance over time. This adds a subtle emotional reward system that keeps the experience engaging without making it feel complicated.
