Inspiration

We all recognize the importance of having a calendar to organize our lives. Unfortunately, one of the mostly used calendars, Google Calendar, does not have all the features we are looking for - getting effective notifications, one-click calendar sharing, and priority-based colouring to show what matters.

What it does & How we built it

Instant Schedule provides all the features above that Google Calendar do not have (some features are still in the works as of writing), which combines to create an engaging user experience. It is also open-sourced and created with accessible frontend technology that allows beginner and skilled coders to tailor it to their needs.

Challenges we ran into

As beginner/novice coders, we were unable to implement many of our wanted features, such as the sharing feature. Fortunately, we were able to receive help from a wonderful Hack the North mentor and we are very grateful.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Working with teammates to resolve technical and nontechnical issues
  • Attending our first/second hackathon!

What we learned

  • Working with frontend HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Working in a team on a 36 hour project

What's next for To do list

  • Polishing all desired features
  • Adding, if possible, mnemonic devices to enhance memory of user, self-reflection tool, and more
