Inspiration
We were inspired by the growing disparities of housing in today's world, especially among people of color, women, and other minorities.
What it does
Our program is twofold; one portion is a fun, interactive game which displays interesting facts about the housing inequalities in the current world as the player progresses, and the other is a short, informative questionnaire which narrows down our vast variety of resources to suit a specific person's needs.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
We ran into multiple semantic errors in terms of getting our program to do what it wanted due to its high complexity. We eventually backtracked and structured our flow to organize the multiple different aspects, such as functions, event handlers, and variables.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Honestly, we're just proud of completing our very first hackathon :)
What we learned
We learned how to better delegate our time and map out our program beforehand (maybe write some pseudocode/make flowcharts) so that we save time in the long run.
What's next for To Build a Home
We plan to broaden this project to cover a larger area of people. Our program is currently centered around Howard County, MD, and we'd eventually like to expand these horizons.
