Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from having one thing in common: our love for gaming.
What it does
Our app caters to students who love RPG/fantasy style games. We wanted to integrate that aspect of their lives into their education by treating subjects/courses like DND-like campaigns. Students upload PDFS of their course outlines either by manually or through D2L/school account integration. We wanted to utilize AI to categorize lessons/units into learnable skills and spells, assignments into mini-bosses, exams into class advancements and group projects into raid bosses where you get to play with your friends. Users will earn rewards by gaining XP and gold which they can redeem for cosmetics, loots, equipments, and gift cards to incentivize their performance! This encourages students to actually succeed in their education while still having fun which motivates and encourages students to participate in classes more, boosting their productivity.
How we built it
We wanted to use Supabase, Expo.io, Node.js and React-Native for our tech stack. UI/UX is done on Figma. We would also like to thank Franuka Art for the asset packs and icons that we utilized for our app. https://twitter.com/franuka_art https://franuka.itch.io/
Challenges we ran into
Our thing broke lmao
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're mostly proud of the fact that we came up with this idea and that we had fun doing this together.
What we learned
It was quite difficult to navigate through the tech stack and have it work together. Designing in 8 bit was pretty fun but a bit tricky to navigate through as well. We also learned that it's probably better to do hackathons without any conflicting plans/priorities. Honestly, we had fun so we just gave up and went home to play League and TFT LMAOOOO
What's next for To be Decided
We think this idea is pretty cool so there is potential that we might be working on this down the road. Also 8 bit is a pretty ccool style so more time to be invested into that.
