TN EB BILL COMPARISON

About the Project

TN-EB-BILL-COMPARISON is a web application designed to help Tamil Nadu electricity consumers easily understand and compare their electricity bills under different tariff schemes.

💡 Inspiration

The project was inspired by the difficulty many consumers face when understanding electricity tariff slabs and calculating their monthly EB bills. I wanted to build a simple platform where users could enter their electricity consumption and instantly see a clear comparison of the bill amount under different tariff systems.

🛠️ How I Built It

I developed the application using a modern full-stack architecture:

• Frontend: React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, Recharts
• Backend: Node.js and Express
• Database: MongoDB
• Deployment: render
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions

The application provides slab-wise calculations, interactive charts, Tamil/English support, dark mode, PDF export, and bill comparison features.

📚 What I Learned

Through this project, I gained practical experience in **full-stack development, REST APIs, database integration. I also learned how to design a user-friendly interface for a real-world problem and connect frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure into one application.

🚧 Challenges Faced

Some of the main challenges were implementing accurate slab-wise bill calculations, connecting the frontend with the backend, handling database integration, CI/CD pipeline and troubleshooting deployment issues also helped me improve my debugging and DevOps skills.

🎯 Outcome

This project helped me combine software development, cloud computing, and DevOps to create a practical application that makes electricity bill comparison easier and more understandable for users.
