A story about board games.
You're a guy named Brad, and check it out; you just picked up the hottest new game, Fire in the Lake. You love learning new board games almost as much as playing them. You often spend part of the weekend learning games and strategies, reading through the manuals, and watching youtube videos on play-throughs. However, the majority of board games are designed for multiple players, and so If you want to play, you will have to trick, ahem, I mean, convince your friends into playing along with you. And there’s the problem. Not all board game masters make for good board game teachers.
What it does
The solution? It’s tldnr! too long, did not read —an app for whenever you are stuck learning a game in social settings. Meant to be straightforward, instant, and off-line so anyone, anywhere, with even a small degree of game knowledge, can find their answer quickly and get back to the gameplay. tldnr puts an end to flipping through instruction manuals.
How I built it
This is a case study, everything from market research, interviews, user-story exploring, journey mapping, prototypes, usability testing, and writing the UI in react was included in this project.
Challenges I ran into
Too many to list. Everything was difficult. This was my first attempt at an in-depth case study. It took 12 weeks to complete. I would like to go back and work on the react code again. I did not know enough at the time to implicate the prototype properly.
