Inspiration

The inspiration for TipMeCrypto struck us when we witnessed the immense potential of the web3 industry and the rising need for a dedicated platform that empowers creators. We saw the passion and talent within the web3 community and recognized the lack of a centralized space where creators could share their passion and more, such as high-quality designs, projects, and ideas while being rewarded with cryptos. We want to create a platform that fosters a community where exceptional content could be discovered and rewarded, sparking more creativity and excellence in the Web3 world.

What it does

TipMeCrypto is a platform that empowers Web3 creators to share insightful and exclusive content, designs, projects, and ideas while earning crypto income from their fans. Our mission is to provide a platform that transforms creators’ dreams into reality, igniting new waves of creativity within the ongoing Web3.

How we built it

First of all, we assembled a team of self-motivated developers and content creators (thanks to Chainlink team for organising this hackathon event to bring all of us together) Secondly, we utilized the latest web3 frameworks and tools (viem, wagmi and @walletconnect) to accelerate the developing process. Last but not least, we extensively relied on the openzeppelin-contracts library to construct our own smart contracts, serving as the core foundation of our product.

Challenges we ran into

We have encountered various challenges along the way including both technical and non technical challenges. One of the biggest challenges was making sure everyone in the team to agree on an idea and willing to spend time to make it to reality. We did see some people worked on this project for a few days and then left. It was also challenging to coordinate everyone's availability and schedules.

From technical perspective, we didn't have any experience in working with Chainlink products nor Space&Time products before, so we have to learn by doing. This caused some slowness when we began building our smart contracts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We successfully integrated with Chainlink VRF service to mint TipMeCrypto & Chainlink NFTs when user first time tip a creator with LINK token.
  • We successfully integrated our serverless backend with Space&Time DB to store some non sensitive data and it worked very well
  • We designed a very user friendly UI so even non web3 people can easily understand and get started with our product.

What we learned

Throughout our journey in building this project, we have learned:

  • how UI can interact with smart contracts using tools like: viem and wagmi
  • how chainlink VRF/Price feed/subscription method works
  • different token standards such as ERC20 and ERC721
  • different transaction flow between native token and ERC20 tokens

What's next for TipMeCrypto

This hackathon just marks the very first chapter of our product. We are committed to continuously improving and expanding TipMeCrypto. Currently, we have a roadmap consisting of three stages:

  1. Support tip transaction on various chains (BSC, Polygon and ETH) with both native cryptos and ERC20 tokens (we haven't completed the first phase yet)
  2. Build a content publishing system where creators can share exclusive content and insightful ideas, and supporters can subscribe or tip the creator to unlock that information.
  3. Establish a thriving community and foster strong bonds between creators and their supporters through the publication of exclusive NFTs and merchandise.
