Hack the travel experience, in ways that leverage technology before, during or after the journey, and positively transform Travel and Tourism for consumers and the industry. Suggestion: consider travel inspiration, searching, planning, shopping, experiencing, memorializing and sharing ... and don't overlook mobile services.

Your solution and what it does

The APP will be use to post/promote TRAVELER'S experiences from destinations to restaurants, hotels, airlines and ticketing agencies and will allow other TRAVELERS to see and rate it if its worth it or not. The PORTAL will have a functionalities where people can validate if the TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS are 'True', 'Not True', or they have 'Doubt About It'.

The APP will also features Weekly TIPSTERS as the system will show who among the TRAVELERS that posted TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS are truthful to their postings. The system will pick TIPSTERS of the Week by most truthful response or who have more AGREED responses to their TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS. System will weight the CREDIBILITY points of each TRAVELERS who will post TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS, this will be use to prevent BOGUS, TROLLS and UNRELIABLE REVIEWS.

Another feature of this APP is a TRAVELER can be able to save the TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS which they think is worth it and they can go back to it anytime they want to check it. This is one of the problems facing by 'netizens', when they see something useful or they are interested in, they are having a hard time finding it again as it is push back by the new ones. With this feature, they can check it anytime they want as it is saved to their "PINNED/BUCKET LIST SECTION"

Though the system gives more IMPORTANCE to the TRAVELERS, the PORTAL also allow registrations of Travel Service Providers which will help them do improvements to their services, products or brands based on the outcome of the feed backs.

Summary: *** FOR TRAVELERS

  • Travelers can post TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS based on their experiences from different destinations to hotels, airlines, restaurants, travel agencies and more.
  • Travelers will earn CREDIBILITY points everytime they received positive feedbacks on their TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS.
  • Travelers can select if they want to be a PUBLIC TIPSTER or their TIPS is limited to their own NETWORK, FRIENDS and FAMILY only. This can be configure on Profile section.
  • Travelers can share itineraries, tips and must haves for each of specific DESTINATIONS that will be useful to other TRAVELERS.

*** FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS

  • HOTELS, AIRLINES, RESORTS, ETC can register and they will be assigned a QR Code where they can print and put it on their BUSINESS facility so that Travelers can scan it and post it directly to the portal and give reviews about their experience.
  • Can also post tips/recommendations which will be rated based on the credibility of their business as service provider.
  • Can post details about their business and services offered.
  • Can post booking link. *** The PORTAL is not a booking site as prices and delas are not the main focus of this APP. It is more important to give TRAVELERS a credible PORTAL to see which destinations or service providers are worth the money, regardless if it the cheapest one or the most expensive one, it still boils down to the EXPERIENCE. This APP gives importance to the TRAVELERS, cause without them, there will be no Travel and Tourism Industry.

How did you build it?

I created a running prototype version using asp.net c#, DevExpress and MS SQL Server as database. This is a simple running prototype just to show how it will work. Users can post TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS, invite friends, check TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS from other TRAVELERS, and as a registered members too, they can rate it.

What are you proud of?

Knowing that I can still design and conceptualize solutions which I thought I can't do it anymore as I left IT World for a long time. I've been an IT Consultant before and I am commissioned to design solutions for any kind of businesses. And this is the first time I did this again and happy that I can still do this kind of stuff. But I know that it still need more time to polish this PORTAL APP that will help to combat bogus, paid and unreliable reviews which will address the EXPECTATION vs REALITY dilemma.

What is the next step for your solution and how will you take that step?

Next step is to pilot it first on selected DESTINATIONS, let's say BORACAY or EL NIDO in PHIILIPPINES (though the design of the system is capable of handling more), where all TRAVELERS who experienced being on these DESTINATIONS who tried the HOTELS, RESORTS, or TRAVEL AGENCIES will share it on the PORTAL so that the other people will search for the most CREDIBLE TRAVELERS who can recommend best experience on the said target DESTINATIONS.

I develop it using ASP.NET C#, DevExpress with MS SQL Database. It is a web-based application but have a provision to connect to mobile apps too
