Inspiration
The inspiration for this product was an interest in enhancing the Superchats feature on YouTube, without character limits and an excessive fee. I was also inspired by the TikTok gifts feature and the idea of allowing a Livestreamer to engage more deeply with their audience outside of TikTok.
What it does
TipCue is a platform that allows public figures to accept tips from their audience in exchange for having their questions answered. Create your profile, share your link. Only receive messages from people willing to pay.
How we built it
It's built using an open-source framework arc.codes, which provides a declarative approach to deploying serverless applications on AWS. The entire application runs on AWS Lambda while utilizing various AWS services.
Challenges we ran into
Understanding how to properly set up Stripe Connect onboarding and the various customization features. We want to minimize friction in the onboarding process, so the perfect UX/UI flow requires careful planning. It will require even more thought and restructuring in the near future.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud to have added a new technology framework to my knowledge stack, which is Stripe Connect. I believe that having this new knowledge will enable me to build engaging marketplaces that can leverage network effects as a competitive moat in this new AI age.
What we learned
Most importantly, I learned how to build a marketplace, a skill that can be applied to a multitude of niches. I have another idea for a marketplace for musicians.
