Inspiration
Mental health is often framed around crises, but true progress happens in the small, everyday moments - like getting out of bed, drinking water, or choosing to breathe. We wanted to build something that celebrates those tiny victories - to remind people they’re doing better than they think.
With rising stress, burnout, and anxiety levels, especially among students, remote workers, and solo founders, we felt the need for a lightweight, no-login mental wellness tool that provides instant emotional validation and support using the power of AI.
What it does
Tiny Wins Tracker became more than a simple tool - it’s a micro-dose of motivation for anyone who just needs a kind word, a high-five, or a gentle nudge to keep going.
How we built it
We used Next.js and TailwindCSS for a responsive, calming frontend.
Integrated OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 API to:
Generate celebratory messages
Deliver motivational quotes
Suggest simple self-care actions
We used localStorage to store and display recent wins - enabling privacy-first tracking without a backend.
Added subtle confetti animations to emotionally reward user interaction.
Challenges we ran into
Designing a calming UX while balancing functionality and responsiveness
Crafting prompts that ensured the AI responses were emotionally validating and not robotic
Keeping everything frontend-only while preserving a sense of personalisation and memory
What we learned
Simplicity matters. Users don’t want to “sign up to feel better” - instant, frictionless value is key.
Tone and design deeply affect how emotionally safe and effective a mental health tool feels.
AI can be warm, kind, and empowering - if prompted with care.
