Inspiration

Ever been on a bad date? Spoke something that makes the conversation awkward? Mini-anxiety-attacks while talking to opposite-gender? Lack of confidence in public? Introvert?

We all, at some point in our lives, must've experienced one or all of these problems. Taking inspiration from those situations, we've come up with a VR-based application that'd help you to get over your fears in the most techy way possible.

What it does

tindXR gives you a safe and customizable environment to practice your mock dates with the person of your choice. It helps to enhance your soft skills as well as helps to decrease nervousness, which will stop you from ruining your irl date. Apps like tinder help you to get a match with the person, but meeting someone new is not as safe as it seems. So, we're integrating a virtual date feature after getting matched, that's going to take over the culture of video calls in the future.

Not only this, the gamified tool will help you to track your performance among nearby users. This is going to encourage the users to practice more.

How we built it

We've used the Unity engine to make an interactive environment where you can select your date, surroundings, as well as crowd before your mock date.

We're going to use ML-based algorithms to keep a track of your voice, tone, and eyes to suggest you personalized improvement tips. Just to ensure you're ready when you're with someone.

We're going to use google maps' API to get your location and help you to match with other users that you might be interested in.

Challenges we ran into

While building and testing this product, the biggest challenge for us was the VR headset. But all thanks to Google cardboard that is available for less than Rs. 500/- in the market! Another issue was finding suitable assets in the Unity engine, so we've used the available open-source assets.

Planning the business model was another big issue as there are already competitors like Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid, etc. But our product is just the enhanced version of them, something that no one is doing yet!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to say that we support the LGBTQ+ community. We've included several themes to show our heartful support to the community, options like you can go on a date with any gender.

We're also very proud that our project supports the Digita India movement. Purchasing VR-box from local vendors will promote small businesses and our app will bring modernization to the youths.

We're also targeting the most important ingredient of one's life, soft skills. Speaking in crowdy places, being fluent, and expressing yourself.

What we learned

This project gave us a great learning experience. From knowing more about Unity to understanding the lifestyle of a person from the LGBTQ+ community. Reading about them, and the things they face in daily life is the least that we can do for them because they are one of us.

Also, the facts, the figures of dating in a country like India, where people are of conservative mindsets, we've to change that. THE FUTURE IS HERE...
