Inspiration

Twipp was born from a simple observation: people waste hours scrolling through entertainment content when they could be using that time to build micro-skills that change their lives. We wanted to rewire that habit by combining the addictive scroll behavior of Reels/TikTok with actual skill-building, in 60 seconds or less. Instead of endless distractions, Twipp gives instant, actionable insights on career, finance, freelancing, productivity, mindset, and more — all through short, swipeable videos created by real people. We also wanted to give everyday creators a way to monetize their skills and earn by helping others learn. As a solo high school student from India, this project was also inspired by a desire to level the playing field, proving that someone with minimal resources can still build a premium product that feels global.

What it does

Shows 4 free Twipps (60-second skill videos) to every user — no login required After that, it upsells premium access to explore more bite-sized skills Premium access can be monthly or yearly, with discounts tied to the Bolt Hackathon Users can swipe through videos like Reels, but instead of wasting time, they learn Videos are fullscreen, YouTube Shorts-style, with pause and full-screen toggle Creators can upload their 60-second tips in approved skill categories Each upload requires: category, description, and vertical video format Categories include: Career, Money, Mindset, Freelance, Habits, Tech, etc. A smart pop-up pricing menu appears after free Twipps to prompt conversion The UI/UX is smooth, premium, and designed with morphisms, animations, and psychology-driven layout Motivational quotes appear naturally while swiping, enhancing habit formation Users can sign in using Google or Microsoft Creators get visibility and share revenue RevenueCat powers built-in subscription logic A visible “Built on Bolt” badge links to https://bolt.new as required

How we built it

Twipp was built entirely on the Bolt platform using a fully no-code approach. The entire app was constructed using a mix of custom prompts written by me and AI-generated prompts via ChatGPT, without any external tools, scripts, or coding environments. All UI/UX logic, layouts, and page structures were designed inside Bolt’s visual builder. Data models for profiles, medicines, consultations, logs, and conditions were created and refined within Bolt. Every screen, animation, icon, and interaction was crafted using Bolt’s built-in logic system and styling utilities. I alternated between my handwritten prompts and ChatGPT-crafted ones to iteratively shape the app’s design and functionality. I followed strict constraints: no video, no audio, no AI agents, and zero placeholder elements—everything is fully usable and bug-free. RevenueCat was successfully integrated to enable real in-app purchases, subscription logic, and dynamic premium content access management.

Challenges we ran into

Building a clean swipe-scroll UX that doesn’t break responsiveness Designing a premium pricing model that looks affordable but increases revenue Getting pop-ups to look great on every screen size without overflowing Integrating RevenueCat correctly while ensuring dummy purchases still demonstrate functionality Making creators feel empowered while subtly favoring the app’s business model Limited token usage for generating ideas through AI — had to be strategic with prompting Working as a solo developer with time, resource, and knowledge constraints

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a fully working prototype of a micro-learning marketplace Designed a scroll experience that feels premium and focused Integrated Google & Microsoft login, swipe UX, category system, and pricing logic Built an addictive yet educational app that turns scrolling into growth Crafted a monetization strategy with both value and psychological appeal Achieved a polished UI/UX experience that rivals top-tier startups Met all submission criteria for Bolt Hackathon, including badge placement and RevenueCat usage

What we learned

How to use RevenueCat to manage real-world subscriptions in React apps Best practices for psychological UI/UX, like upsells, badge placement, and urgency triggers How to build an experience that mixes learning, commerce, and community How to work around constraints, manage scope, and make tough design decisions solo The value of well-scoped AI prompting to achieve more with fewer tokens

What's next for Twipp
