Inspiration

I am currently learning multiplication tables with a young student. Recently I saw the Lensathon Snap AR advertisement in Lens Studio. That's how the idea was born.

What it does

16 boards with multiplication problems are displayed around you. Solve the tasks by speaking the result of the focused task into your mobile phone (English only). Success or failure is shown visually.

How we built it

With Lens Studio, of course, using countless features such as speech recognition and custom materials. The 3D models were created with 3ds Max and the textures with Substance Painter.

Challenges we ran into

Materials with different dynamic texts are tricky with Lens Studio. With speech recognition there is always the problem that you don't know exactly when a number has been spoken to the end. But I found a very good compromise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a test, a young student has already practiced the multiplication table with the lens. It seems to work better than at a desk.

What we learned

A lot about the Lens Studio API and 3D modeling and texturing.

What's next for Times Tables Hero

Definitely a multiplayer option where you can compete against each other.
