Inspiration

ChronoPlay was inspired by a simple, nostalgic moment. I watched my grandfather play Pac-Man, his eyes lighting up with the same joy I saw in my younger brother playing Fireboy and Watergirl. It made me think about how much games have evolved and how each generation had its own defining experience. This made me strive to create ChronoPlay as I heard the theme being "Time Machine".

What it does

ChronoPlay is a time-travel-themed video game experience that takes the player through the evolution of iconic games. Players enter a digital time machine and jump from Snake(1976) to Pac-Man(1980) to Fireboy and Watergirl(2009) to Flappy Bird(2013)

How I built it

I built ChronoPlay using Java on Eclipese IDE to code each mini-game as its own state and the transitions, including classic mechanics and graphical details.

Challenges I ran into

I had a challenge handling multiple input schemes for dual-character gameplay in Fireboy and Watergirl and using collision detection logic with graphics.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I am proud of being able to create a seamless game which goes through all the different mini-games without bugs/errors.

What I learned

I learned how to use mouse and key input for many different things.

What's next for ChonoPlay

In the near future I plan to add many more mini games and improving the graphics on my previous mini-games as-well.
