Inspiration
Approved scripts should not be rewritten just to add timestamps. Creators and localization teams also need a clear path from owned audio or video to subtitle files, visible QA, and reliable delivery formats.
What it does
TimedSubs is a subtitle workflow for creators, editors, and localization teams. It can turn owned audio or video into source subtitles, align an approved script to matching audio while keeping the submitted wording intact, and translate SRT, VTT, or ASS into 109 target languages without changing timestamps.
Before download, TimedSubs surfaces timing and upload problems so blocking issues stay visible. Depending on the plan, projects can export SRT, VTT, SBV, ASS, timecoded TXT, JSON, or ZIP.
How we built it
TimedSubs is a web application built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Drizzle ORM, Neon, and Vercel. The workflow separates media or script input, subtitle timing, QA, translation, and export so each stage can be reviewed before delivery.
Challenges
The main challenge is preserving approved wording while using audio only for timing. Translation introduces a second constraint: timestamps and supported styling must remain stable while subtitle text changes. The product therefore treats QA as a visible gate instead of hiding problems behind a single completion state.
