Inspiration (Problem)
Students are often ill-equipped with the skills needed to juggle everything on their plates - classes, homework, jobs, clubs, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. And with the shift to virtual learning, the job has become harder to manage time and step away from the computer to do tasks other than attend class and work. Though apps exist to help streamline the process of scheduling, there lacks a tool to help one budget time, and the heavy procrastinator will struggle to develop a plan to help get through the day. Time has also seemed to slow for many in this virtual world of education, and the value of small availabilities in the day is often overlooked. When the shift back to physical class settings or even hybrid environments occurs, students could face increased lack of motivation and anxiety, as the day goes on and time that could’ve been efficiently used is wasted.
What it does (Solution)
Our solution is a calendar-based productivity application that not only helps streamline scheduling but also helps motivate users to be more time efficient as they go through their week. With this application, users can easily input their schedules into a calendar, or import a calendar from another application. Then, they can develop a plan for an event of their choosing, such as a Study Plan, based on the allotted free time they have, ultimately help manage time and encourage productivity. This solution will not only give students the tool they need to visually see their schedules and tasks, but will also build a foundation for time budgeting skills as it generates time slots based on availability and allows users to plan accordingly. By reminding users of their free time, whether it be 15 minutes or 2 hours, even heavy procrastinators can be motivated to use their time wisely.
