Inspiration
Tired of seeing time in different time zones? We too! Be it while playing games or participating in different hackathons . It gets really irritating having to google, every time a new time zone comes up. Well worry no more pal, we came up with Time Turner (Hi five! If you are a Harry Potter fan too ;)), for you. Time turner converts times in different time zones and gets back to you with the time in your time zone. No more worrying about time conversions.
What it does
It takes time mentioned in any message, and converts it from the time zone of the sender to that of the receiver. You just have to react to the message with a clock. And Ta dah! The bot DMs you the time in your time zone.
How we built it
The code is written in python. We built it using the library Discord.py.
Challenges we ran into
- We faced some issue while sending the DMs to respective users.
- We struggled a bit while writing the logic for time conversion.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We solved a real world problem
- Now discord users no longer need to worry about time zone conversions.
- We support 36 time zones as of now.
What we learned
- We learnt how to create discord bots.
- We learnt to use the discord.py library.
What's next for Time Turner
We intend to make the DMs more customized.
