Inspiration
The way I got inspired by my idea was when I was in Hawaii, and we had a layover of over 6 hours. In this layover, my family had initially planned to explore, but couldn't book anything on a 6 hour notice. Thus, I thought–what if people who had time to spend could be able to experience fun activities and promote local businesses?
What it does
The application uses a recyclerview and cardview to display all the sample destinations and places, then uses an algorithm to find the closest ones and the cheapest ones, especially if that's the search terms. It then can post it to your computer using firebase, and uses SQL databases to store the information.
How I built it
I built it by using sql databases and firebase for all the back end code
Challenges I ran into
The main challenge that I ran into was coding the firebase back end code to post from the phone to the computer
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that I created such an app(Even if it is entry-level) in 36 hours, and that it has basic functionality and can be used and possibly scaled.
What I learned
Overall, I learned more about client and server side code, and I learned how to efficiently use SQL databases
What's next for Time to Spend
I hope to make this a reality by advancing the material design, and by writing a machine learning algorithm to recommend new places,
