Inspiration

Time Sorceror was inspired by a Youtube short where people in real life were playing a game involving stopwatch. This inspired me to make something similar on reddit.

What it does

Time Sorceror is a skill-based game where players test their timing in two modes: Stopwatch, where you stop the clock as close as possible to a target time, and Blind Guess, where you memorize a light duration and estimate it. Players complete five rounds, earn scores, and compete on a live leaderboard.

How we built it

We built Time Sorceror using Devvit Web with React, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind CSS. The game logic runs in the client, while leaderboard data and score submissions are handled through the server-side Devvit integration. The app was designed to work smoothly inside Reddit posts and community experiences.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was making the game feel polished and responsive while staying lightweight for Reddit’s web environment. We also had to fine-tune the leaderboard flow, UI layout, and game balance so the experience stayed fun and easy to understand.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of building a complete, playable game experience with multiple modes, score tracking, and a leaderboard that works smoothly in a Reddit-integrated app. We also succeeded in packaging it as a polished Devvit app that can be installed and played in a subreddit.

What we learned

We learned a lot about building interactive web apps inside the Devvit environment, especially around layout constraints, state handling, and creating a smooth user experience in a compact interface. We also learned how important feedback, timing, and simplicity are in game design.

What's next for Time Sorceror

We plan to add more game modes, improve the leaderboard experience, and introduce richer visuals and sound effects. We also want to expand the game’s replayability and make it even more engaging for Reddit communities.
