Inspiration

This video is inspired by the Back to the Future movie series, as well as A Christmas Carol

What it does

It introduces Doc Jon (a cross between Scrooge and Doc Brown from Back to the Future). This video sets up the story that will be developed in further episodes

How we built it

The high energy music was created by Suno, from lyrics created in collaboration with ChatGPT. The video generation is mostly Kling, Wan and Hailuo/Minimax

Challenges we ran into

As this is a high-energy song and dance routine, getting the lip syncing with the right level of emotion was tricky. Additionally maintaining a consistent character throughout the dance routine, using different perspectives and camera angles was challenging

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of being able to create a compelling story for this episode that whets the appetite for the episodes that will follow. And also the fun and energy of the music and choreography

What we learned

Lip syncing for singing is tricky - it's hard to get good lip syncing with good acting as well - but Kling's new avatar feature was an excellent way to achieve this (used for several of the shots in this video), because you can prompt for the action, as well as providing a starting image and audio.

This is just episode 1 - there are 4 episodes to follow that will expand on the time travelling idea, with a Christmas-themed story
