Urgency

Urgency is a set of rules, not a model.

Level 4 — emergency sign
Level 3 — follow-up says the dog is getting worse
Level 1 — only mild, recent itching, with age between 1 and 9
Level 2 — everything else

In shorthand:

Level 4 = emergency sign
Level 3 = worse follow-up
Level 1 = mild + recent itch + age 1–9
Level 2 = otherwise

Related conditions come from 424 owner observations and 75 disease records. They are labeled "may relate to", never as a diagnosis.

Prices

Prices are read from clinic websites when the owner asks. Gemini may match a service name to a line on the page. If that dollar amount is not actually printed there, it is dropped.

Nearby clinics are ranked using the haversine distance from the owner's ZIP.

We use Earth's radius as:

R = 3958.8 miles

The distance formula is:

φ is latitude
λ is longitude
Δφ is the difference in latitude

I worked on the owner side, PawPlan. My teammate owned the vet app, sign-in, and the booking database. My three commits on main are the live-price reader, the urgency fix, and the clinic-location reconnect.

Live clinic prices. I brought Gemini and the price reader over from the other project without replacing the existing owner screens. The shared app server reads clinic websites, uses the model only to match a service name, and drops any amount that is not printed on the page. The Gemini key stays in apps/client/.env and is not in git. I also made that endpoint work on the one demo server, so Pet Owner and Vet open from the same link.

Urgency. Mild cases were always coming out as level 3. I changed the rules so level 3 is only for a follow-up that says the dog is worse, level 1 is the mild recent itch with otherwise normal answers, and everything else stays at level 2.

Prices that said unavailable. After my teammate disconnected the stored clinic list, live prices were being thrown away because a clinic could not be placed near the owner’s ZIP. I put those locations back so a live price can be ranked by distance, and I stopped the browser from keeping the old owner script.

The Wisconsin ZIP pricing and the “may relate to” condition match were already mine before this conversation. My teammate had merged that work in. I did not build the vet calendar, requests, chat, or the Supabase booking functions.
