Inspiration
Pale Fire. Reading Pale Fire, I had to stop interrupting my reading. So I wished there was an app that'd pick vocabulary from books I want to read. I said to myself, wait, I don't have to wish; I am an engineer, I can build it. So I started building this simple app. The simple app became more sophisticated and not as simple as I thought. So here we are.
What it does
Oh what it doesn't? It provides the best phone/tablet reading experience that I have seen. You want to read with friends? You are covered. Discuss the book? You can right there in the book. Free classics? You got it. You want to build your vocabulary before reading a book? Absolutely. You want to build a reading or vocabulary learning habit? That's also covered. There are more. Simply: MRGA. Make Reading Great Again.
How we built it
Lots of testing. Lots of reading. Lots of hard work.
Challenges we ran into
It is hard to curate things. Data is expensive. Privacy has many aspects.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It is quite frankly better than apps with tens of millions of investment in the same space.
What we learned
We are more capable than we realize. Just need to push ourselves.
