Inspiration
I wanted to create a puzzle game that feels like a mindful break rather than a stressful challenge, colorful, simple, but with room for strategy.
What it does
TileFlow is a grid-based puzzle where players drag, rotate, and place pastel pieces to fill the board. Points come from color streaks, multipliers, and bonuses, and each finished puzzle ends with a short, calming affirmation.
How I built it
We built the game around a simple grid engine, added a scoring model (linear and triangular streaks), daily puzzle generation, pastel art direction, and a carousel tutorial to onboard players.
Challenges I ran into
Balancing relaxation with rewarding gameplay was tricky. Early builds felt too plain or too stressful. Scoring, UI flow, and pacing had to be iterated several times.
Accomplishments thatI am proud of
- Creating a calm, polished aesthetic with pastel visuals and soothing feedback.
- Building a puzzle loop that’s both strategic and relaxing.
What I learned
That simplicity can be powerful small details like gentle animations, affirmations, and color choices change the entire mood of a game.
What's next for TileFlow
We want to expand daily challenges, add light customization (themes, palettes), and grow a small community around r/tileflow for sharing scores and puzzles.
