Inspiration

The idea emerged from the need to save both time and money when selecting the perfect tiles for home renovation or construction. Choosing tiles can be overwhelming and expensive due to the need for physical samples and prototypes. By leveraging technology, we aim to simplify this process and make it more efficient.

What it does

The application allows users to visualize different tiles in a virtual environment. Users can experiment with various tile designs, colors, and patterns while adjusting real-time lighting conditions to simulate different times of the day. This enables them to make informed decisions without relying on physical samples or imagining how tiles would look in their spaces.

How we built it

We developed the solution using Unity, leveraging its powerful 3D rendering capabilities for high-quality visualization. The Meta Hand Interaction SDK was integrated to provide an immersive, interactive experience, enabling users to intuitively explore and apply tiles in the virtual environment. Advanced algorithms for spatial mapping were employed to ensure accurate room scale and tile placement.

Challenges we ran into

Room Scale Accuracy: Ensuring that the virtual environment matched real-world room dimensions was a significant challenge, requiring precise spatial mapping and calibration. Performance Optimization: Maintaining high-quality rendering and real-time interaction while ensuring smooth performance in VR posed technical hurdles. User Accessibility: Designing an intuitive interface that could cater to both tech-savvy users and those unfamiliar with VR technology was crucial.
