Origin of TikBlog

As frequent users of TikTok we enjoy consuming content rich reels. However reels can be too long such that we often have to fast-forward and might miss crucial contents, or reels can be too fast that we will often rewind to rewatch the content.

Solution

With TikBlog as an effective long form content type, we are able to consume content at a faster pace whilst not missing crucial content. TikBlog will also appear in the commerce product as a Customer Review to form a bi-drectional link between Reels and Commerce.

Success of Long Form Content

We understand that the advent of TikTok started with short-form contents paving the way. However, with the allowance of longer video durations, TikTok has long achieved success with long-form formats and have smoothly transitioned user’s expectation of reels to support long form content.

Social Network

In a social network, every user is a node. A user can be an individual or a business user, as long as they can post, comment, like, favourite and repost, these actions are what creates bi-directional links between one or many nodes. These actions are crucial in a network, and there are different levels of qualities in terms of the action performed. If a node comments a popular opinion and gets lots of likes, the nodes are incentivised to form more links. However, if the comments gain no traction, the node will strive to identify ways to build the popularity for positive reinforcement.

Widened Social Network Node Connections

Users can form a bi-directional link with TikBlog between the Reels and the Product pages through their respective blog posts and product review section. With the increase in number of channels for reels, users will want to post about products to generate discussions and gain views from shoppers.

Algorithmic Network

However, simply just linking the Products and Reels through TikBlog is not enough. As mentioned, there is a need for varying quality levels of links to encourage diversification of content and creativity. Hence, we developed a Keyword Ranking algorithm and Semantic algorithm to analyse the TikBlog contents which can be factored into the TikTok’s Reel Search Engine Optimisation.

Keyword Ranking Algorithm

The goal of the keyword ranking algorithm is to generate keywords from content and rank the significance of the keyword to ensure that content creators write succinct and effective content.

Semantic Algorithm

The semantic algorithm enables TikTok to utilise big data to gain insight into products that currently being sold on the commerce platform and develop better curation of products sold with the help of the Social Network.

TikTok Commerce Enhancement

Having worked with numerous companies to develop eCommerce stores, we identified that the most valuable aspect about a platform is the marketing pipelines that businesses can utilise to promote their product. Businesses are always looking to expand quantity of marketing pipelines.

Improvements in Product Review Quality

By creating a link between Products and Reels through TikBlog, this encourages high quality review reels for products and customers will be able to make accurate judgment as to whether to buy the product.

Straightforward Pipelines to Conversions

With TikBlog enabling simpler pipeline conversions, businesses will be incentivised to invest more marketing effort into TikTok. This encourages businesses to generate more content for TikTok to interact with users.

How we built it

We built the entire application as Progressive Web App in Next.js and Supabase as we are the most familiar with Web Technologies. To build the blog structure, we developed a component registry library
