Inspiration
We were inspired by Tiger Spend and our own spending experiences.
What it does
Tiger Spend But Better helps students manage their spending of dining dollars by calculating how much a student can spend per day for a semester depending on how many dining dollars they have.
How we built it
We mainly used Python for the functionality. We also used Flask and Sqlite3 to create a database for the student's spending information. And we used HTML for the website.
Challenges we ran into
Since most of us bad very beginner level programming skills, we ran into a lot of semantic/runtime errors which took a bit longer for us to fix. Through this experience, we improvised languages we didn't know how to use very well and came up with ways to implement it for our project idea.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Although the project is incomplete, we were still able to make a good amount of progress in the limited time we were given. We were able to create a database, create a website, and code most of the program that calculates the spending.
What we learned
We learned a little bit of Python, Flask, Sqlite, and HTML. We also learned how to work as a team to generate ideas, share a workspace, and code to make our project a reality from nothing.
What's next for Tiger Spend But Better
We hope to release the project.
