Inspiration

We made this app because we felt that our campus gym's website has room for improvement. Currently, the gym posts class schedules through a static image file and has class descriptions in a separate excel file. Not only is this not interactive but worse, when we interviewed a gym employee we found that it’s someone's job to create these static class schedule docs in the beginning of the semester. And then as changes arise, they need to take down the old versions and then edit and reupload new ones. Seeing these inefficiencies, we designed a new website that is more interactive and user friendly.

What it does

This web app allows users to easily view classes they're registered for as well as all classes offered at the gym in the format of an interactive calendar and detailed class information pages. Admins can also add classes and anyone can join a class virtually at the set time with login credentials.

How we built it

We use the MERN stack and Twilio for video conferencing.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was trying to form a team. Ultimately, we had to settle as a team of only 2 students with limited or no prior hackathon experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building an improved web app end to end with a unique video conferencing feature- we think this could have an impact on our campus!

What we learned

Full stack design and development, collaboration, UI concepts.

What's next for Tiger Fitness

We want to delve deeper into a social aspect of this app, ie: adding a platform for users to organize pickup sports games. discord: @oneofthegraces
