Inspiration
Finding reliable and affordable home-cooked meals is a challenge for students, working professionals, and people living away from home. Many tiffin services operate locally but have no online presence, making them hard to discover. We wanted to bridge that gap with a simple, accessible platform.
What it does
Tiffin Service Finder connects customers with local tiffin service providers in their area. Users can search for nearby providers, compare prices, check menus, and read reviews before placing an order. Providers can list their services, update menus, and receive customer feedback.
How we built it
We designed the platform using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend and Node.js with Express for the backend. MongoDB stores provider and customer data, while Google Maps API helps locate services geographically. We hosted the project on Render for backend and Netlify for frontend deployment.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating location-based search with accurate radius filtering.
Designing a clean and responsive interface for both desktop and mobile.
Ensuring fast load times even with multiple images and listings.
Coordinating work among team members in limited hackathon time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully built a functional prototype within the hackathon timeline.
Integrated live location search and filtering.
Created a simple UI that even non-tech-savvy users can navigate.
What we learned
How to integrate location APIs with a database for dynamic search.
Best practices for responsive and mobile-friendly UI design.
Time management and teamwork under tight deadlines.
What's next for Tiffin Service Finder
Adding an in-app ordering and payment gateway.
Implementing a rating and verification system for providers.
Creating a subscription model for regular customers.
Expanding the service to cover more cities and rural areas.7380868979
