Inspiration
Parkinson's, stroke, and other lesser-abled patients have trouble tying their shoes because of shaky hands, and we wanted to solve this problem.
What it does
Automated system that ties and unties shoes.
How we built it
Motors spin laces into a spool
Challenges we ran into
Having the whole team come up with and agree on an idea. Also, we had difficulty with the circuit design and simplifying design as much as possible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The system works! It ties and unties shoelaces.
What we learned
Persistence! Also, more complex does not mean better; some of the best hacks are the simplest
What's next for Tieler
Miniaturizing the system by using smaller, specialized components, more control of the motor speed, and eliminated switch.
Built With
- 3d-prints
- battery
- dc-motors
- switches/buttons
