TIDES：Life ebbs, death flows

Inspiration

The inspiration came on the anniversary of my grandmother’s passing. While looking through childhood photo albums, I found pictures of her celebrating my birthdays.
This evoked an image of a character who, overwhelmed by momentary struggles, neglects the love around him and forgets the true meaning of life, even considering ending it.
However, like in a dream, he experiences his life in reverse, completing a cycle of existence and ultimately finding rebirth through this surreal journey.

Learning Outcomes

As a beginner, I learned to explore and experiment throughout the process of creating an AI-generated film.
I practiced writing precise prompts to communicate my ideas to AI and gradually understood the strengths of different AI platforms — some excel at imaginative visuals, while others are better at precise, structured outputs.
This experience allowed me to break free from my previous creative habits and storytelling patterns, using AI as a tool to construct narratives and expand my artistic vision.

Project Development Process

First, I collaborated with GPT to structure the storyboard, continually refining details through dialogue during the process.
Then, I used Sora to establish the main characters, key scenes, and storyboard visuals, followed by MidJourney for fine-tuning details to achieve visual completeness and artistic depth.

Challenges

Transforming the abstract idea of “life cycling like the tides” into visual imagery was my greatest challenge.
I designed numerous creative elements, but AI often struggled to interpret these abstract concepts, requiring me to rely on metaphors or alternative symbols.
For example, I represented the flow of red cells as fine red sand to help the AI generate appropriate visuals.
Turning poetic visions in my mind into coherent, tangible imagery throughout the film was both the most difficult and the most rewarding part of the process.
Without AI technology, my ideas would have been nearly impossible to realize.

Production Tools

The script and storyboard were generated using GPT.
Suno was used to create part of the music and sound effects.
MidJourney was used to produce storyboard visuals, and KlingAI was employed to generate the final video.
