Inspiration
Shelly the hermit crab tried to carry every beautiful shell at once and couldn't move. Most planners start with a longer list. TideMind starts with the time you actually have.
What it does
The Tide Planner is the practice lab:
- You set today's minute budget, then add "shells" (tasks), each with a time estimate and your own importance and urgency tags.
- The planner totals what you chose and shows the budget, the selected minutes and the unused minutes. For example, 60 / 55 / 5 after adding "Call the bank" in the demo.
- When the plan overflows, you choose where each task goes: Today's shore, Later, Consider sharing or Leave it.
- On screen, TideMind says that importance and urgency are your tags and that it does not assign a priority automatically.
- Open space is part of the plan, and a task you don't carry today is not marked as a failure.
The course: twelve lessons. They cover moving to-dos out of your head, turning a vague task into a first action, urgent vs. important, leaving a margin, changing the plan without blame, and defining "good enough".
Other features: 19 languages. No account is needed.
TideMind is general self-help education and practice. It is not medical or psychological advice.
Free and Premium:
- Free: the planner and lessons 1–6, with ads.
- TideMind Premium: an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annual. It unlocks lessons 7–12, the encrypted backup and the reminder/calendar export, and removes all ads.
- Trial: both plans start with a 7-day free trial.
How we built it
- App shell: an offline web app wrapped for Android with Capacitor.
- Plugins:
@revenuecat/purchases-capacitor,@capacitor-community/admob,@capacitor/local-notifications,@capacitor/filesystem,@capacitor/share,@capacitor/browserand@capacitor/app.
RevenueCat
- Entitlement:
premium. - Offering:
default(current), with the packages$rc_monthlyand$rc_annual. - Products:
tidemind_monthly:monthlyandtidemind_yearly:yearly. Both base plans carry the Play offertrial7(7 days free, ACTIVE). - Paywall: the paywall shows the store's localized prices.
- Entitlement check: the entitlement is re-read fresh once per process.
AdMob (free tier only)
- Banner: an adaptive banner on the Home and Lessons screens only. The planner never shows a banner.
- Interstitial: only after a finished lesson, at most one in every three, and at least 3 minutes apart.
- Consent: UMP consent comes first.
- Premium: Premium removes all ads.
Build
- Builds run in GitHub Actions.
- The demo build was installed from Google Play (versionCode 1). Its web payload is identical, file for file (75 files), to the CI build of the uploaded bundle.
Challenges we ran into
- The wrong app in the console. A typo created a second, draft Play Console entry (
acom.hezarfen.tidemind), and one round of store declarations landed there. We found it by reading the console app list and the Play API, then redid every declaration on the realcom.hezarfen.tidemind. The draft was left untouched. - One strict check rejected all 19 languages. A shared validator required exactly three choices per lesson. We added a build-time gate that runs the shipped validator on every packaged language.
- Billing needs the store build. A side-loaded copy of the same code got "billing unavailable". The Play-installed build loads both plans and the trial.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- A planner where "Later", "Share" and "Leave it" are real outcomes, not failures.
- A real 7-day trial on both plans, through one RevenueCat entitlement.
What's next for TideMind
Ideas from the product notes, not promises: carrying unfinished shells into the next day by choice, and weekly reflection without scores.
Judges' access
- Trial: open Settings (top-right icon), scroll to Premium and choose either plan. Google Play shows a 7-day free trial, and cancelling before it ends means no charge.
- Free without a trial: the planner and lessons 1–6.
- Prices in the video: the recording used a Turkish Google Play account, so prices appear in TRY.
