Inspiration
When I was diagnosed with Tourette’s at age 12, my doctors frequently asked me to track my tics for better treatment insights. The only way to do this was by typing notes at the end of exhausting days, which quickly became cumbersome and inconsistent. Years later, as my symptoms began to ease, I felt compelled to create a tool that would have helped me during my most challenging days. Drawing on personal experiences and continuous user feedback, I set out to build a structured, user-friendly platform that empowers individuals with Tourette’s to log and monitor their tics.
What it does
Helps patients track their tics and visualize patterns through intuitive graphs and tables. Additionaly, users receive personalized suggestions, based on verified therapies used to treat tics. Lastly, a tic education section for users to understand their condition better. Soon, we will have a specialized doctor’s portal to bridge communication between healthcare providers and patients.
How we built it
Initially, we started with a basic prototype that allowed for quick tic logging. We then integrated structured data fields, visualization tools, an updated UI, personalized suggestions, and an education section. As user feedback poured in, we refined the interface, emphasizing ease of use and data clarity. In parallel, we are in the process of establishing a secure, specialized doctor portal, enabling seamless patient-doctor collaboration.
Challenges we ran into
Credibility, feature prioritization, and marketing in an empathetic yet effective manner.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We reached out to and received consistent positive user feedback from patients, top doctors, and Tourette's Organizations. Doctors have also showed the willingness to use our platform with their patients.
What we learned
Throughout this journey, we discovered the importance of simplicity and consistency in health management tools. We also learned the value of empathetic design—incorporating feedback from fellow Tourette’s patients has shown me how crucial it is to respect users’ daily struggles and their need for intuitive, accessible features.
What's next for TicVision
A specialized doctor’s portal, advanced AI integration for automated reports and trend analysis, and onboarding a robust network of healthcare professionals.
