Inspiration

It all started when one of our team members was having trouble booking a ticket for an event featuring her favorite musician. We discovered various pain paints in the e-ticketing process as a result of that occurrence, including ticket fraud, false or illegal transactions, as well as insecure verification processes. As a group of friends interested in blockchain, we were inspired to use blockchain to improve everyone's e-ticketing experience.

What it does

Thanks to its strength of keeping data transparency and consistency, the introduction of blockchain technology to e-ticketing is able to remove scams and shaky verification procedures. We can follow the ticket's whole journey from start to finish, keeping track of all parties participating in the ticketing process, such as event organizers, original purchasers, resellers, and secondary purchasers. With the assistance of blockchain technology, will be a powerful e-ticketing system that delivers a quick, transparent, and secured ticketing experience.

How we built it

We decided to join together after hearing about the Devera Blockathon competition from a friend and decided to make our e-ticketing idea a reality. Our team was lucky in having all of the necessary individuals for an agile and effective software development team: one PM, one FE engineer, two BE engineers, and one Blockchain engineer. We spent every evening and weekend after our full-time jobs working on the TicketPal project. We did all of our work from home and had online meetings twice a week.

Challenges we ran into

The greatest difficulty we had while working on this project was a lack of time. The entire team is employed full-time. Some of them even work part-time. It was difficult for us to concentrate on TicketPal.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we can now build a product that was once only our idea. Despite the difficulties, we remained disciplined and worked diligently to fulfill a purpose to which we had committed.

What we learned

With a tiny team, we learned how to build a product from the ground up. It's not only about the technical abilities; we've also learnt a lot about discipline, commitment, teamwork, and effective communication.

What's next for TicketPal

Because this is only an MVP version, many enhancements will be required for TicketPal to function as planned. In our Product Guidelines, we mentioned a few prospective enhancements.

Regarding our vision for the future, TicketPal will attract a large number of eventgoers who are eager for a better and more secured e-ticketing experience. They will be educated about blockchain technology, ICON specifically, in a practical and straightforward way - through selling, purchasing, and reselling online tickets. This is a fundamental step for the general public to start using ICON Wallets and joining the ICON community.
