Inspiration
During my time in high school, I often struggled with procrastination. Instead of learning consistently, I would let topics pile up until the night before an exam. The cognitive overload was overwhelming, and despite working hard, I ended up with average or sometimes poor results. Now, I have a younger brother who will one day sit for the GCE examination. I don't want him or any other student to go through the same experience. I wanted to build the study companion I wish I had: one that encourages consistency over cramming. That's where the idea of Ticha AI: 1% Daily Learning was born.
What it does
Ticha AI is an AI-powered learning platform designed for GCE students that helps them improve just 1% every day through short, structured learning sessions. Students can:
Learn one bite-sized lesson daily. Chat with an AI tutor for personalized explanations. Watch curated concept videos. Practice with quizzes and past papers. Track learning streaks and progress. Upload notes for AI-powered assistance. Instead of overwhelming students with hours of content, Ticha AI makes studying simple, engaging, and consistent.
How we built it
We designed Ticha AI as a modern Progressive Web App (PWA) with a strong focus on accessibility and mobile-first learning.
- Next.js
- Supabase
- Gemini and ElevenLabs
Challenges we ran into
- Building a RAG System from scratch
- To carefully structure lessons into small, meaningful daily learning units without losing educational depth.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a complete AI-powered learning experience around the philosophy of 1% Daily Learning.
- Created a distinctive and memorable visual identity for Ticha AI.
- Combined AI tutoring, concept videos, quizzes, summaries, and gamification into one platform.
- Designed an experience that encourages daily -learning habits instead of last-minute cramming. Produced a polished product that feels ready for real students.
What we learned
- Tech alone doesn't improve education — good learning experiences do.
- Helping students become consistent learners can have a greater long-term impact than simply helping them pass an exam.
- The importance of reducing cognitive overload, using gamification responsibly, and designing AI that guides students to understand concepts instead of memorizing answers.
What's next for Tich AI
- Build the corrected RAG system
- Expand to the skill learning experience using the same philosophy
- Launch the mobile apps for Android and iOS.
