Inspiration
I wanted to take the classic game of tic-tac-toe and turn it into something more engaging by adding multiple endings, hidden mechanics, and a secret fight mini-game to surprise players.
What it does
"Tic-Tac-Toe: Endings" is a minimalist 3x3 tic-tac-toe game with achievements, anti-cheat detection, and an interactive fight sequence. Player decisions shape the game’s narrative and lead to different endings.
How we built it
The game was built entirely on the Bolt.new platform using its event and animation systems. The entire logic is handled in a single comprehensive script managing turns, cheating, fights, and endings.
Challenges we ran into
Detecting cheating and spam moves without breaking gameplay flow was challenging, as well as implementing smooth transitions between multiple endings and the fight sequence.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created an animated fight mini-game, integrated a rich achievement system, and designed multiple unique endings — making a simple game feel fresh and replayable.
What we learned
This project taught us the importance of detailed game state management and how to expand classic games into deeper interactive experiences.
What's next for Tic-Tac-Toe: Endings
We plan to add more fight moves, enhance animations, and create new hidden endings to further surprise players.
