Inspiration

Obviously, the original Tic-Tac-Toe was our inspiration. We realised that the normal game of Tic-Tac-Toe was just boring. Upon closer inspection, we found out that the game's problem was that it almost always ended in a draw. Consequently, we decided to switch it up!

What it does

It's Tic-Tac-Toe but Tic-Tac-NO. We removed the CIRCLE and the players just play with Xs. The objective of the game is to try to NOT make three Xs in a row. This makes the game interesting because you have keep in mind what the other player's next move would be. It's you against YOU.

How we built it

After wasting hours on intangible ideas, we agreed upon Tic-Tac-NO. However, once we had this idea completely sorted, we kept up a good pace. The three of us sat together, laughing and fooling around and coding at the same time. We started with the basic skeleton of the code and then cool add-on ideas started evolving. We had the game and the logic and it all worked well. Then we decided to include potatoes (we have a weird thing for potatoes) and we made our own logo and we fine tuned the appearance of our website. And that, folks, is how we made it.

Challenges we ran into

Firstly, distractions. Having fun is fun until you get distracted after every semicolon. We halted too often to pass jokes and to mess around with our project, but in the end, we conquered our lack of focus and created this awesomeness. We also ran into idea brainstorming problems. All of us had different ideas and some of them were just not plausible and then Tic-Tac-NO found us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how well we worked together and how we managed to pull 2 consecutive and fun all nighters! Adding to this list, we are also very proud of our logo that we did not need to create but we did and the way it all worked out (fun and fabulous YET productive).

What we learned

Teamwork. We learned that instead of shouting ideas, we should try to listen sometimes. Even though we might hold different thought-processes, we all come together to make something we're proud of. We learned, thanks to the wonderful speakers, organisers and attendees of NeoHacks, that winning is not everything, sometimes the feeling of being surrounded by people who learn WITH you is more precious.

What's next for Tic-Tac-NO

We'll definitely improve this website if we get any further cool ideas because at the end, this was more than just a hackathon submission. (We're also planning to get some sleep-)
