Inspiration

I originally had the idea to do a checkers website with features similar to Chess.com but decided to go for a simpler game as I thought that would be funnier.

What it does

The website allows you to create an account, and face off against other players in Tic Tac Toe. Based on your game results, your personal Elo score, which is the rating of how good at Tic Tac Toe you are, will go up or down.

How we built it

The website is built using Angular and uses Firebase for Authentication, Hosting, and the Database. For matchmaking purposes, I used Google Cloud Functions to check when there are multiple players waiting for a match, and then creating a match for the 2 of them with a random game id. The website has also been deployed to tictacelo.tech using Domain.com, however I have had issues accessing it on Calvin's wi-fi.

Challenges we ran into

As of now, I have been unable to access my Domain.com domain using Calvin's wi-fi, however the website it still fully accessible at https://tictactoeelo.web.app/

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully getting a matchmaking system working with a ranking system.

What we learned

How to quickly get 2 users to communicate with each other over a website.

What's next for Tic Tac Elo

Expanding the website to include other game modes such as Ultimate Tic Tac Toe which features 9 separate Tic Tac Toe boards which are all played on at once.
