Inspiration
We wanted this website to allow people to learn about the beautiful country of Tibet and the unique culture of Tibetan people.
What it does
This website displays different sections of information on Tibet including the traditions, foods, clothing and the history. The website was built to also spread awareness on the tragic inhuman events happening in Tibet under the illegal occupation by the Chinese Communist Party. Hopefully we inspire people with the beauty of Tibet and its culture and move towards the preservation of our culture and hopefully a FREE TIBET.
How we built it
Our team has never been to a hackathon before and have minimal knowledge and experience in coding. We built our website with html using the assistance that the BevHacks resource guide and W3 provides.
Challenges we ran into
We had a challenge with working on creating a pop up for our different topics but creating the code was much more complex so we decided to just add the information alongside each image we had. One of our team members, in the last 30 minutes, accidentally closed out of our project and we hadn’t saved our work so we had to recode as much of our website as we could.
What we learned
We learned a lot through the help of the BevHacks resource guide; a lot more knowledge on basic coding and creating websites were attained. I learned the complexity there is behind the creation of websites.
What's next for Tibet Project
We hope to be able to advance our website by making it more interactive to viewers. We also plan to add more information including locations within the city of Tibetan restaurants, monasteries, and museums, etc.
