💡 Inspiration

TibArt was inspired by our own experiences growing up as Tibetan youth.

As younger generations grow up away from Tibet, it can become harder to stay connected to our culture. We realized that some of the strongest connections to our heritage can come from the things we see and interact with every day—especially the art and objects in our homes.

In our own home, we grew up around Tibetan thangkas, cultural clothes for special occasions and statues of Tibetan deities. These weren't just objects; they were reminders of our history, traditions, and identity. They helped us understand and stay connected to our Tibetan culture.

This made us wonder:

What if more Tibetan people had an easy way to discover and bring these pieces of their culture into their homes?

That question inspired us to create TibArt.

We wanted to build more than just another marketplace. We wanted to create a place where Tibetan art could be shared, discovered, understood, and passed on to the next generation.

Through TibArt, we hope to help keep Tibetan culture alive—not just through words and teachings, but through the art and objects that people can bring into their everyday lives.

❗ The Problem

Future generations of Tibetans are increasingly at risk of losing touch with their cultural heritage.

Culture is often passed down through physical objects, traditions, stories, and teachings. Having culturally significant objects in our homes can create a connection to our history and provide opportunities for younger generations to learn about their heritage.

This problem is personal to us.

In our home, my family has Tibetan statues and an offering table that represent our traditions. Growing up around these objects helped my sister and me develop a stronger connection to our culture.

However, not every Tibetan family has access to culturally meaningful objects, and finding authentic Tibetan artwork can be difficult.

💻 Our Solution

We built TibArt, a marketplace specifically designed around Tibetan art and culture.

Users can discover, list, and purchase different types of Tibetan artwork, including:

Our AI-assisted tagging system can analyze uploaded artwork and automatically suggest relevant keywords.

Our goal is to make the process of discovering, understanding, and sharing Tibetan art easier, while creating a community around preserving Tibetan culture.
