Online conversations this day can feel a little stale. We believe wholeheartedly that human interaction should not only be convenient and accessible from anywhere, but /feel/ real.
Sometimes you're messaging someone and just need some extra oomfph!
Thwack adds an element of tactile human contact into otherwise remote conversations.
What it does
A novel way to express yourself through chat messages in a tangible manner. The next generation of emojis.
A chrome extension that detects if someone sends a ✋ emoji to your chat. If detected, it uses a particle photon controller to activate a servo that sends a hand towards a face :)
How we built it
Layered plexiglass and leather to create a realistically-textured hand, supported by a balsawood arm & stand (amply augmented with screws and tape). The arm is spring-loaded, and activated when a servo undoes a hook.
